There's nothing "petty" going on here. In a post to his Instagram Story on July 7, Brian Austin Green defended himself and his ex-wife Megan Fox against claims that they were recently dissing each other on social media. According to Green, he and Fox get along just fine and are working hard to co-parent their three children together. He also clarified that, contrary to what some followers thought, Fox's comment on one of his recent posts about current girlfriend Sharna Burgess was meant to be supportive, not a dig at their relationship. Fox and Green were married for 10 years.
The two actors were married from 2010 to 2020 and have three children: eight-year-old Noah, seven-year-old Bodhi, and four-year-old Journey. Announcing their split in May 2020, Green said on his podcast, …with Brian Austin Green (via People), "As far as a family, what we've built is really cool and it's really special. So we decided let's make sure that we don't lose that. Let's make sure that we're always friends with each other and we're a united front with the kids." Now, Green is with Dancing with the Stars pro Burgess, and Fox is dating rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly.
The breakup hasn't always been smooth sailing.
While Green says he and Fox are on good terms now, there was some public drama along the way. In November 2020, Fox called out Green for posting photos of their children on social media and claimed that he was trying to make her looks like an "absent mother."
"You're so intoxicated with feeding the pervasive narrative that I'm an absent mother, and you are the perennial, eternally dedicated dad of the year," Fox wrote in part. "You have them half of the time. Congratulations you truly are a remarkable human! Why do you need the internet to echo back to you what should be inexhaustibly evident in the way your children love you?"
Green seemingly responded by thanking fans for their support in a video posted not long after. "I wanted to thank everyone who's come on my page and been supportive of everything," he said. "It's extremely kind and really appreciated."
Fox commented on a recent Instagram of Green and his new girlfriend.

On July 6, Green posted an Instagram of himself kissing Burgess. "It's been a really long time since I've been with someone I can truly share life with," he wrote in the caption. Fox the commented on the post, "Grateful for Sharna" with a purple heart emoji, but later deleted it. (The comment has been captured by the account @commentsbycelebs.)
Some followers thought that Green's caption about it being "a really long time" since being with someone he could "truly share life with" might be a diss to Fox, whom he only divorced last year. It was also questioned whether Fox was being shady and not supportive when she said she was "grateful" for Green's new partner.

But Green says that there's no bad blood.
Green says that neither he nor Fox were being "petty" in their recent exchange. In a post on his Instagram Story, he wrote, "For people that need or want clarification. Megan and I get along great. Neither of us are sending petty digs to each other. We both work really hard to get along and coparent well for our kids. Now stay safe and spread kindness and love."
Fox has not commented on the situation on her own account. As for Burgess, she wrote on Green's original post, "There's no one else I could ever imagine sharing it with. I love you."
